Rahel Kassahun sets the overall direction of the organization. She develops and oversees the implementation of the organization's programs and promotes Africa Unbound's vision and mission at international conferences and through various media channels. She is also the host of Africa Unbound on Radio, the first syndicated radio program on the continent. Prior to founding Africa Unbound, she worked for the World Bank in Washington D.C. (2002-2010). Dr. Rahel has also worked as a consultant for the United Nations Development Programme in New York and taught at University of California, Riverside (1996-2000). A native Ethiopian, Ms. Kassahun holds a Ph. D. in Economics from University of California, Riverside.
Ibrahima Cheikh Diong leads the Entrepreneurship Development Program. He is the Founder and CEO of Africa Consulting and Trading (ACT), a Dakar-based business consulting firm. He currently serves as an advisor for BNP Paribas on Africa and emerging markets. Between 2007-2011, he served as Minister/Special Advisor to the President of the Republic of Senegal and as the Director General of International Cooperation of Senegal. Prior to joining the Senegalese administration, Mr. Diong served as Manager in the Africa Department of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank Group where he led IFC’s efforts in providing risk capital financing and advisory services to small and medium enterprises through the establishment of SME Solutions Centers. Prior to joining the World Bank Group, Mr. Diong worked for the US-based international management-consulting firm, Booz Allen and Hamilton. Mr. Diong holds a Master’s degree in international affairs specialized in public policy, international finance and environmental policy management from Columbia University in New York City.
Paa Kwesi supports the national chapter coordinators as well as local chapter coordinators in building Africa Unbound chapters at the national and local levels. He is responsible for the implementation of the organization’s outreach strategy. Paa Kwesi is a writer, poet and a public speaker representing his brand pkbi inspire. Mr. Inkumsah is president emeritus of the International Institute of Global Leadership based in Ashville, North Carolina and served as the United Nations Affairs Commissioner for Africa and Middle East for Junior Chamber International (JCI). In 2009, he served as the National President for JCI in Ghana.
